EZ Estudio Zurbriggen
For expats and service exporters in Uruguay

Your Uruguayan taxes, handled. In English.

You moved to Uruguay — or you're billing clients abroad from here. Your accountant back home doesn't know DGI from BPS. Local firms don't work in English. The big international firms won't take your call unless you're a corporation. That's exactly the client we built this practice for.

What we handle (the Uruguayan side)

  • Tax residency — including Uruguay's tax holiday for new residents (Ley 20.446): whether you qualify, which route fits, and the paperwork done right.
  • Setting up your entityunipersonal vs. SAS: what each costs, what each protects, and which one fits how you earn. Choosing wrong is the most expensive "small" mistake foreigners make here.
  • DGI & BPS registrations and monthly compliance — taxes and social security, filed on time, every time.
  • Invoicing clients abroad — export of services, e-invoicing (facturación electrónica), and what to keep on file in case anyone ever asks.
  • Software & tech exporters — Uruguay has significant tax exemptions for software activity. Whether YOUR setup qualifies is a case-by-case analysis — that analysis is precisely what we do.

What we don't do: your US/UK/EU filings. We coordinate with your CPA back home — we handle the Uruguayan side.

How we work (and why we charge for the first real meeting)

Where you come from, paying a professional for advice is normal. Here's our version:

  1. Tell us your situation on WhatsApp — free, 10 minutes, we'll tell you honestly whether we can help.
  2. Tax Diagnostic — a 60-minute working session plus a written action plan within 3 business days. Fee per the official schedule of Uruguay's Association of Accountants (CCEAU) — we confirm the exact amount on WhatsApp before you book.
  3. If you hire us for ongoing work within 30 days, the diagnostic fee is fully credited.

No free-consultation fishing. No junior associates. You talk to the accountant whose license is on the wall.

FAQ

Do you really work in English?

Yes. Written communication (WhatsApp, email, reports) works perfectly in English; meetings are held in English with supporting materials. We're honest about it: English-friendly, not London-born.

I only need my Uruguayan taxes done — can you coordinate with my accountant back home?

That's our standard setup. We handle Uruguay; they handle home.

Do I need to be in Punta del Este?

No — video calls work for everything except the coffee.

How much does ongoing service cost?

It depends on your structure and volume; you'll get a fixed quote in your diagnostic's written plan. Our fees follow the official CCEAU schedule.

Is Uruguay really a tax-friendly place for new residents?

For many profiles, genuinely yes — but the details (routes, timing, source of income) decide everything. That's a diagnostic, not a blog answer.
